The Costs of Hiring a Nanny

Fortunately for many parents, securing high quality in-home childcare is more affordable than they think. For families with more than one child or with parents who work long or untraditional hours, nanny care is comparable if not more affordable than other childcare options.

Search Fee

At Morningside Nannies we excel with matching the right nannies with the right families. The referral fee covers the cost of screening your candidate and the time required to carefully match a nanny’s skills, experience and personality with your caregiver expectations and preferences. Our search fee is $100.00.

Referral Fee

Should you hire one of our candidates for a long-term position, our referral fee is equivalent to six weeks of the nanny’s gross weekly salary, with a minimum $1000 fee. This fee is payable upon the nanny accepting your job offer.  Parents who hire temporary caregivers pay Morningside Nannies a referral fee of $25 to $40 per day. You’ll find our placement fees to be competitive with local and national reputable placement agencies.

Provider’s Salary

Once you’ve found the candidate you wish to hire, you’ll negotiate an hourly rate directly with the nanny. Providers hired through Morningside Nannies typically earn a gross hourly rate of $13 to $18 per hour, with most averaging $15 to $16.

Taxes and Insurance

As a household employer, you’ll have tax obligations. Typically the costs associated with paying a nanny equal about 10% of the nanny’s gross annual salary. There are tax breaks and credits, however, which can negate this cost. In fact, the breaks some nanny employers receive exceeds their portion of taxes.
